Pierre Peters Cuvee Rose for Albane Brut, Champagne, France

Sale price$149.99

Rudolph Peters built his reputation on the quiet power of his Blanc de Blancs, but for a time he also produced a minuscule quantity of rosé—a cuvée named for his daughter. The blend is anchored by 60% Chardonnay from Le Mesnil, complemented by a saignée of Pinot Meunier from the Premier Cru of Cumières. Partially undergoing malolactic fermentation in steel and aged for 24 months, it’s finished with a low dosage, yielding an elegant, deeply nuanced rosé marked by refined red-fruit tones and finesse.

93 points - Wine Advocate

"Based on the 2015 vintage and blending Peters's Chardonnay with a saignee of Pinot Meunier from Rene Geoffroy, the latest rendition of the NV Brut Rose for Albane bursts with complex aromas of red apples, pomelo, fresh mint, licorice and shrimp shell. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, delicate and incisive, with a delicate phenolic presence and a sneakily persistent finish. Peters contends that the tannins of Pinot Noir would amplify the austerity of Le Mesnil, hence his decision to work with Pinot Meunier." (WK)
