2010 Masseto Toscana IGT, Tuscany, Italy
Masseto is one of Italy’s most iconic wines, produced entirely from Merlot grown on a singular hillside near Bolgheri where ancient Pliocene blue clay gives the wine its characteristic power, depth, and velvety structure. The notably cool, late-ripening 2010 vintage was harvested in five separate lots, vinified parcel by parcel, and aged for 24 months in barrique followed by another year in bottle. Less overtly opulent than warmer vintages, the 2010 combines extraordinary concentration with remarkable precision and finesse. Blackberry, black currant, dark cherry, cedar, exotic spice, mocha, and mineral notes unfold across a seamless palate with polished tannins, vibrant freshness, and an exceptionally long finish. Condition Note: This offering includes three bottles in the original banded wooden case, sold together as a single lot. The case remains banded and is being sold as-is; please refer to the photos for overall condition.
