2008 Thierry Allemand Cornas Chaillots, Rhone, France (stained label)

Thierry Allemand’s Chaillots is drawn from the domaine’s younger Syrah vines planted on the steep limestone and granite slopes of Cornas, offering a more lifted and immediately expressive counterpart to Reynard. Allemand farms organically by hand, ferments with whole clusters, and ages the wine for two years in seasoned foudres and barriques before bottling unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur. The cooler 2008 vintage produced an especially aromatic, finely etched Chaillots, with raspberry, cherry compote, violet, potpourri, black pepper, and smoky mineral notes carried by taut acidity, silky tannins, and a precise, floral finish.
