2007 Domaine Jamet Cote Rotie, Rhone, France
Domaine Jamet is one of Côte-Rôtie’s benchmark traditional estates, and the 2007 captures a finely drawn, classically savory expression of the domaine. Sourced from Syrah grown across the Jamet family’s mosaic of steep hillside parcels, the wine reflects their traditional whole-cluster approach and long élevage in mostly seasoned oak. Nearly two decades in bottle have brought savory complexity to its core of blackberry, kirsch, and plum, with violet, black olive, bay leaf, leather, tobacco, licorice, and cracked pepper. Medium-bodied and precise, with lively acidity, fine tannins, and a smoky mineral finish, this is a mature, distinctly old-school Côte-Rôtie built on perfume and finesse rather than sheer weight.
