2001 Thierry Allemand Cornas Chaillots, Rhone, France (stained label)

Thierry Allemand’s Chaillots comes from Syrah vines planted across the steep limestone and granite slopes of Cornas and shows the more lifted, immediately expressive side of the domaine alongside the deeper Reynard cuvée. Allemand farms organically by hand, favors whole-cluster fermentation, and raises the wine slowly in seasoned wood with minimal sulfur and intervention. The beautifully balanced 2001 is especially aromatic, with wild strawberry, blackberry, violet, black olive, cracked pepper, game, and gunflint unfolding across a dense yet elegant palate with vibrant acidity, fine tannins, and a remarkably persistent, peppery mineral finish.
